i've gotten into a bad habit (thanks to vesna) of forgetting what age i am (it changes al the time anyhow). when people ask me i think 18, no, 23, no 26, no 16/14, no 30, no 21... eventually i hit 20 and think "holy darn-it" what am i going to do now (all while talking to a stranger)

I think that sensation has a lot to do with what your family life was like. I was occupying a room at my parents' house from the age of... oh... 9 or so, so it's not strange for me to be independent. It was a bit strange not to be sharing a house with my folks and my bro, but I got used to that as quickly as anyone gets used to new housemates.
my sister went to boarding school when i was 12 & i didn't live with my parents full time from the age of 15 (boarding school), so adulthood for me is not related to living arrangements. i still get a buzz that i can sign stuff for myself now (though i feel like an imposter doing it).
