good to hear you are about :) come further south, rent is still around $100-$150 a week for a decent place, even some farms about to rent too!!
We looked at those areas a yr ago and prices were going nuts, it sucks! Boddington is lovely tho fuk living there when the mines fire up.
Anything along the SW hwy costs a packet, close to the beach and all. Mind you Albany is 150km from here BUT it is beautiful around these parts, heaps of bush left, ppl are GOOD ppl, friendly, I almost fell over the first week I was here and a teenage boy STOPPED to talk and ask how my weekend was!!!!
ohhhh and I need to pick your brains sometime between now and Fri :)
You know, it's kind of funny. Thousands and thousands of miles apart, and yet the problems are pretty much the same.
In your area, they're digging holes in the ground to pull out ore.
Around here, they're drilling holes in the ground to pull out natural gas and what they call "oil shale."
The rigs go up and the shafts go in, the guys who follow the work roll into town, buying up all the property and flooding the local economy with their Halliburton money, all the prices get jacked up, then the local government starts building schools and police stations and DMVs and everything else to serve the artificially inflated population, funding them partially with all the new taxes but also taking out loans and bonds and whatnot. Then the natural resources they're in town to rape out of the ground will dry up, and we'll be left holding the bill.
