Deadline for issue 2 submissions looming

Aug 22, 2011 12:58

Hullo all,

Just a quick note: 10 days left to submit for consideration for issue 2 of The Journal of Unlikely Entomology, due out in November. Submission guidelines can be found here. Short version of the guidelines: up to 8000 words; $.01/word, capped at $50; must pertain to bugs in some non-trivial way.

Also, we're now accepting submissions for our first themed mini-issue, which will be Issue 2.5, and be comprised of a small number of flash (or flash-ish) stories. Word count is 100-1500 words, with an upper boundary of 2000 words.

The mini-issue will launch on Valentine's Day, 2012, and the theme of the stories should match the day, which is to say, should involve romance, erotica, and/or martyrdom. And, of course, bugs.

Mini-issue stories will compensated at $.02/word, which is double our current rate, with a minimum payment of $10 and a maximum of $30.

We will also begin accepting submissions for issue 3 (may/june 2012) starting September 2nd.
