Mine all see a ped. dentist. They just make a big game out of it, tell them that they want to count their teeth, etc. It's always a fun experience for the kids.
Shit, speaking of that, I need to see if their dentist takes Bubba's new insurance... (wanders off to go check that)
I don't KNOW how the first dentist they saw did it, because parents weren't allowed in the exam area with them. I didn't have a huge problem with that myself, but I'm also not a hovering parent as you know. ;) I'm about as laid back as it gets, and I trust that the dentist's staff knew what they were doing. But, I go back with them now because all three tend to go back all at once, and, yeah... I worry that it's chaos for them.
Also, considering Bub's 5 now (GOD, how did time go so fast?!?!) I don't remember if he was a biter when he first saw the dentist or not. Hell, I'm lucky to remember what I had for breakfast yesterday (did I *EAT* breakfast yesterday....). But, I like taking them to pediatric dentists because they're USED to things like biters, and they know how to, um, deal with it so to speak. They keep them distracted and work with both the munchkin and nervous parents. Sometimes I wish they could be MY dentist. :D
Hmmmm I took my boy to dentist for the first time in April, he just turned four. They just laid him on the chair and opened his mouth for his cleaning and he was real good about it. No fuss at all. So i can't help you there.
uh and i'm a bit sad that I didnt' make your list of friends. I know I'm miles away and havent' kept in much contact but I hope to change that :)
Did the dentist say anything about u waiting so long to get him in there? Did he have any cavities? Does he eat much candy? My family likes to give Daniel candy everytime they see him so I'm worried about cavities...

He eats average amount of candy and had no cavities.
I wouldn't worry about the candy your family gives...as long as it isn't like at every meal or something.
