And a tablet to keep my bad side away

Oh tablets, what are you like?

I recently played with an iPad. A friend of mine has one. He also has a MacBook Air, an iPhone and one of those all-in-one Macs. He has cleansed his body-thetans and sold his credit cards to L Steve Jobbard.

One other thing he has is a two year old girl. She loves the iPad and can use it easily. This amused me. And ( Read more... )

Butbutbut... Why would you need productivity apps?

Seriously, these things aren't for people who create stuff, they're for consumers. Web readers, tv watchers, music listeners, simple game players.

On-screen keyboard is adequate for typing "We can haz LOL!1" on YouTube, and that's all that's required.

These things aren't for geeks, or techies, or anyone who wants to produce anything. Not that I have one, or am considering getting one, but if I had, I'd probably use it for BBC iPlayer and web browsing.

Yeah, I have an Archos 70 tablet. It's got a hard drive to store anime on, will allow me to watch BBC iPlayer, and plays Angry Birds. It also runs the Kindle app. It's pretty good for making basic notes and calendar stuff on it, although I haven't tried linking it to any form of online calendar. It allows me to browse the web.

It fits in my handbag and isn't too heavy. It has battery life for 4 hours of anime per charge.

I like it.

I bought the Android beastie because it was one super-special offer at £199 at a point when my PC had been destroyed by somebody and I could in no way afford to replace or repair it.

And what I learned is, I like the form factor. That's convenient. The trouble is, it's useless to me which makes it inconvenient.

Well, despite being neither a Mac fanboy nor having any care about being fashionable or owning many pairs of shoes, I have an iPad, and I've found it to be remarkably useful for what I want to do with it ( ... )
