I'm sick of people hating on indie, and indie fans. You're all hating because you don't get it.

Ironically enough, this Sunday I actually muttered the phrase, "Yeah, we're better because we listen to better music."

But seriously, indie music gets way too much unnecessary flack. Not cool.

My friends are always so confused about all of the concerts I go to. Like concerts are only supposed to be in arenas that seat 20,000 people. God forbid I go to one that stands 500.

My favorite question that I get answered all the time is, "Where do you find these people?"

That is very true. The whole genre thing always gets me, and I had a debate about this once with a professor but she said genres existed so we can compare things. Except, most of the bands/artists considered "indie" aren't really indie. Like Andrew Bird. As a matter fact, I'm pretty sure he's unhappy being labeled "indie."

haah sorry I deleted it, I had a typo and I get anal about those things. . .

but I totally agree, andrew I think would hate it! haha. but like, we can compare things without putting a label on it the minute we find a connection to perhaps another kind of music or style. its like sexuality, what we got a stick someone with a label immediately if they they prefer one thing to the other, so we can compare. people are unique and individual, and so is art!

I guess for me I just hate putting anything into a genre or section - like why does it have to be INDIE why can't it just be independent of commercial labels? and why can't someone like bad pop and indie music? why must one have to identify with a scene? that's my beef. indie, or otherwise. to me - music is music!

yay music! the funny thing is I loved andrew bird long before he was ever "indie" if you know what i mean, he was so indie he wasn't. . .indie. .
