Look, I've been following your journal just for 2 or 3 weeks. My experience here at livejournal that sometimes it's annoying to meet with a friends only diary. Too complicated and sometimes I forgot to read or something. All I can advice you, that what you think is personal ... keep that 'friends-only'. For example your wonderful arts. Sometimes it is not good to post such treasures for anyone who uses the world net.
But the decision is yours. :-)

Yeah. That's a good idea too. But think about if you want to your journal te be read it's better to keep it open. And what is important take it to be closed.

I really hate the idea of friends only journals, so if there's no HUGE reason it NEEDS to be friend's only, I'd say leave it.
