I know, it's astonishing. Something from me that's not Peter/Claire!

Title: Narnian Love Story
Fandom: Chronicles of Narnia
Rating: PG-13
Summary: 50 sentences about Edmund and Lucy. Done for 1sentence, using the Gamma chart.
A/N: I did this for two reasons! The first is because An Unexpected Love (a Ron/Luna piece done in the same style) was so well received. Also, I want to try to get back into writing Narnia fic again, so I tried my hand at this to get used to writing the characters again. I may be a little rusty, but I'd love to know what you think!

1. Ring

They're back at home now and the four of them try to connect with Narnia again by lying on the ground outside in a circular kind of ring, gazing up at the bright blue sky; Lucy reaches across the blades of grass and finds Edmund's hand, because if anyone can help her connect to Narnia, he can.

2. Hero

Lucy's always thought of Peter as the hero, the one who's unflinchingly brave and will do anything to save those he loves, but the day Edmund is stabbed by the White Witch, her opinion changes.

3. Memory

He watches her all the time, notices that her face is still round and innocent, that her smile still lights up the entire room - but it's her eyes that give her away, eyes that are haunted with sadness and lost memories.

4. Box

It's always suprised him just how intuitive she is - she always knows when to soothe him, when to make him laugh, and when to just sit in silence and pass him the cereal box.

5. Run

They run through the halls of the Professor's house, trying to escape Mrs. McCreedy, but in reality they're not running away from anything, but towards the only place they've felt truly at home.

6. Hurricane

When the waves slam into the rocks on the shore, looking angry and hostile, Lucy fearfully turns to Edmund and asks him if he thinks hurricanes would ever threaten Narnia; he tells her if they do, he'll be sure to protect her.

7. Wings

The demons in his heart tear him apart and all he wants to do is break down and fall; with Lucy beside him, he knows that even if he does, she'll catch him and help him to fly.

8. Cold

They sit outside the steps of their house in Finchley and as Lucy shivers, Edmund takes off his jacket and wraps it around her.

9. Red

Edmund knows that Lucy has always been a bit jealous of Susan, but the day she walks down the stairs, her lips painted red, he starts shouting angrily that she is not their older sister and that she doesn't need lipstick to be pretty.

10. Drink

The nights she finds her older brother sitting on stairs of their home, tie unloosed, hair messy, a half finished bottle of rum in his hands, are the nights that she wishes they were young again.

11. Midnight

Even though she's a Queen, Peter makes sure that Lucy is in bed by midnight at the very latest; but as he is the High King, always busy with important matters, it is Edmund who actually tucks her into bed.

12. Temptation

When she's around, he gets these urges that he can't control and doesn't understand, urges that very nearly take over him, especially when she wears low cut dresses and eats strawberries.

13. View

Susan finds Lucy crying in her bedroom and takes it upon herself to investigate, and it seems that her sister is frustrated that Edmund still sees her as a child.

14. Music

When Edmund kisses her, his lips soft and sweet against her own, a distinct kind of humming resounds in her ears, and it's the best music she's ever heard.

In Narnia, Ed learned how to juggle and Lucy always clapped in delight when he did so, enjoying every minute of it; now she watches as Edmund struggles to teach himself again and the apples fall out of his hands and roll across the floor.

21. Silence

As he pores over Narnia's lawbooks, Lucy stands unnoticed in the corner of his study, wanting to talk to him, but afraid she'll break his concentration if she does; smiling slightly, she leaves, figuring she'll ask him to read to her some other time.

The whole of their lives has been a great journey - a journey of finding love, in Aslan and in each other, and Lucy wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

23. Fire

They sit by the fire, taking in the news that their father is leaving for the War, and Lucy crawls into Edmund's lap, sobbing, and for once he just lets her.

24. Strength

After many months of listening to her beg, Peter and Edmund finally teach Lucy how to use a sword; when Edmund hands her the sword, she drops it at once, not used to its weight, and he can't help but laugh at her.

25. Mask

Edmund has always worn a mask for the rest of the world; they see him as a whiny, spoiled child, but Lucy sees her brother as someone who's simply dealing with a lot of emotional hurt.

26. Ice

One of Lucy's favorite parts about winter is ice skating and every winter Edmund allows her to drag him onto the ice, even though he falls and winds up bruised and battered each time.

27. Fall

When Lucy first learns to ride a horse, Edmund teaches her on Philip; when she falls off and is knocked unconscious for three hours, he doesn't leave her side.

28. Forgotten

"Have you forgotten?" a voice whispers in the dark and Edmund reaches out his hand to the figure standing next to his bed; Lucy takes it and crawls beneath the blankets, her body shuddering with silent sobs as he replies, "I'll never forget."

29. Dance

Lucy walks over to Edmund's throne, breathless and pink-faced, and asks him what's wrong; he says that he doesn't think his baby sister should be dancing with men, let alone fauns, and Lucy can't understand why he is so angry over such a thing as dancing.

30. Body

When Lucy is twelve she notices Edmund's body for the first time; he is building a library in Narnia, brick-laying along with the servants, his shirt discarded, and she can't seem to take her eyes away from his chest.

31. Sacred

Lucy's first kiss to Edmund is fierce, and it lets him know that she is not a little girl and that she loves him passionately; Edmund's first kiss to Lucy is soft and gentle, and it lets her know that, to him, she is sacred.

32. Farewells

"I'll see you soon, Ed," Lucy whispers and then she is gone; he lies still and breathes slowly, knowing that even though she is dead, she has not left him.

33. World

Edmund surmises that he would have been like Susan and forgotten Narnia after awhile if Lucy hadn't been there by his side, reminding him constantly; all he had to do was look at her smile or her sparkle-filled eyes to know that it had once been their world, their home.

37. Lies

Edmund has always hated liars and after becoming a King, he vows never to lie; that's why when he starts to have feelings for his little sister, he doesn't try to deny it.

38. Forever

She lies with him under the sheets, curls their fingers together, and knows that when she's old and gray and perhaps very forgetful, this moment will live on in her heart forever.

39. Overwhelmed

Sometimes he gets so overwhelmed, so caught up in things that need to get done, laws that have to be passed, and he ignores everyone; her small hand on his shoulder always brings him back to what really matters.

40. Whisper

They're far too old be to playing hide and seek - he's seventeen and she's fifteen - but they find sanctuary in an abandoned wardrobe; she whispers, her voice half-indignant and half-barely containing a giggle, "Do you think they'll find us anytime soon?"

41. Wait

After they tumble out of the wardrobe, they wait - wait until they become taller, their hair gets longer, until they can finally be old enough to understand the feelings they have for each other again.

42. Talk

Edmund doesn't like to talk (his conversations are short, one-worded answers and hefty sighs, as if he'd rather be somewhere else); Lucy loves to go on and on about pointless things, and he's more than content just to listen to her.

They hold hands on the train, laughing with everyone in their compartment, not knowing that they're about to die.

49. Lock

There's something about them that no one will be able to understand, she thinks, something about them that no one else can unlock; they're best friends, each other's saviors, and it's their love that connects them, not their blood.

50. Breathe

When Edmund lays eyes upon his little sister for the first time, pudgy baby Lucy cries her first breath; when they are born again, they take their first breath together, and they're both smiling.
