"I don't want him to see you! You'll ruin everything!"

The girl pauses for breath. Or perhaps she is so enraged that she is simply speechless. Either way, Lily takes the opportunity to speak up

[He'd pipe up calmly, not wanting to spook her if she hadn't noticed she'd managed to broadcast it...

Despite how obviously distressing the whole of the dream is, something sticks out to James more than anything else. Lily's sister had always been a Muggle's Muggle, from what he knew, so her reactions-- while in shockingly poor taste-- were not otherwise surprising.

Mm...? [That voice. It's so familiar. Lily curls around her pillow and fights to wake up.] ...James? What're you -?

[She blinks and sits up, her hair a little mussed.]

...did it broadcast that? [Her expression falls.] That was...an old memory. Before I started dating you.

Yeah. Sorry, Lils.

That was a memory, hey? Didn't seem a very happy one, did it.

...yeah, it was. That was the last time I...attempted...to speak to my sister.

[There is a pause while Lily tries to overcome her embarrassment and sound like an adult.]

...yes, it is. But I'm not lonely anymore.

That is good. *he smiles a bit* Companions you can wholly trust are few and far between.

[Serenity's voice is soft and gentle. A mother's voice to an upset and scared child. She knows that there can be so much hurt in feeling alone.] You are not alone, my dear, you are so very loved by so many. A shining star that people are drawn towards. [For even if she had never met Lily, she loved her. She loved everyone in the universe, this one or an alternate one. She loved every creature in it, and she loved Lily. So seeing this girl upset, she sought to make her feel better.]

[Lily visibly relaxes at the sound of Serenity's voice. She tucks her hair behind her ears and blushes shyly.]

Thank you...for saying that. It's nice to hear those things. [Especially since her own mother is so far away.] I'm not lonely anymore. But I was for...over a year. It was difficult.

I really appreciate that. If...I can help you...in anyway...don't hesitate to call me either. [For some reason, she just wants to curl up against Serenity for awhile. She maybe eighteen, but she still feels like a child sometimes.]

[ Saddly Harry isn't unused to that sensation. His fifth year at Hogwarts had been filled by it as well as most of his time before hand. It wasn't a surprise to him how Aunt Petunia was acting. He'd experienced that close-minded mentality for far too many of his years. It had only lightened up recently, but it was hard to ignore those prior feelings and memories. ]

[She can't help but smile at Harry's concern. In some indefinable way, she can tell how kind-hearted he is and how much he sympathizes with her. Then again, it shouldn't be surprising. He probably knew Petunia and her precious Vernon.]

I figured as much. Aunt Petunia doesn't look that young anymore.

[ Yes that's Harry trying to crack a small joke to make his mom smile. Can't blame a kid for trying right? ]

She worries so much I bet she has wrinkles.

[Subaru remembered what it was like to be called weird and how it had stuck with even him over the years.]

Sometimes people say things like that when they're not sure what else to say. It can be really saddening though to hear.

[Oh boy can she sympathize. Petunia has been calling her a freak most of her life. And it hurts because...well...she loves Petunia. They're sisters.]

I know she's jealous. I've known that for a long time. But I wish she'd...see past it and be happy for me. I'm happy for her.

Being happy for someone is a lot better than being jealous. At the same time no one has the right to destroy a person's happiness and words can hurt as much as any physical pain.

But I really do think we can all find someone to relate to if we try hard enough, it just might be someone that we haven't met yet.

You're right. On all points. [Lily isn't the sort to hold grudges. She genuinely likes giving second and third chances - if they are earned/deserved.] She's my sister. I thought that family would mean something to her. [But apparently not.]
