What do you miss most about home?

[Lily is being thoughtful today. But she's not about to let herself be down. Oh no. There are plenty of things to occupy her attention.]

If anyone needs help with their costume, I don't mind lending a hand. Magic makes things much, much easier, though I'm not bad with a needle and thread ( Read more... )

Home...

For me, it will always be the winters. Cold, yes, and they seem more lonely than other seasons, but I enjoyed them. The snow was as fine as powder. And the morning sun breaking over the mountains to the east...with the land holding the promise of renewed life for the spring.

It always gave me hope.

Winter can be really beautiful. I love the sight of fresh snow and I love that solitary feeling sometimes. Don't get me wrong, my friends and family mean the world to me, but -

Being alone puts things into perspective.

[She can't help but smile at that last line.]

I like the way you say that.

Hope was in short supply in Nosgoth, for all of us, human and vampire alike. So much war and strife and needless slaughter... Some may even think of hope as nothing more than an illusion. But it is all the more reason to hold it tightly and not let it go.

Everyone deserves to feel hope. When you lose hope, you lose everything.

Is life better for you here?

My family and my betrothed... I miss them terribly.

What do people need costumes for? [Guess who missed out on the whole "Halloween" announcements.]

Do you mind...telling me about them? Sometimes it helps.

For Halloween. Did you not celebrate it at home? [It's hard to imagine, but so many worlds converge and this is all a dream.]

I don't mind, there's just so much to tell really.

Halloween? I'm afraid I've never heard of it.

[OOC: I poked Lily on the festival as well although Serenity may poke here too.]

I've got time.

It's...a strange holiday. There are darker aspects to it, but most people just use it as a chance to dress up and eat candy.

[OOC: Okies!]

[Hi, Lily, this girl kiiiiinda had a dream about Hogwarts and is now looking the part, in Ravenclaw student robes.

She's seated on her bed, looking pretty wistful.]

A lot of things. The friends we left behind, my real home, my school...it's been months and I'm sorta used to this place already, but it's still not the same.

[She notices those robes, but she decides not to ask. Especially since the girl already looks so lost in thought.]

I doubt it will ever feel the same. But it can come close and that's something to hold onto.

Yeah...and at least I have two of my friends from back home with me. And I met a lot of other people here.

Everyone has been so nice. It's hard to complain, though -

[A quiet sigh.] I know what you mean.

Did you go to Hogwarts?

You're good with costumes?

Relatively. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays.

You hang out with the warlocks...with my sister's friends.

That's an antiquated term. Isabelle used it. Are you her brother?

All my friends from home who've taught me so much. I think anyone would.

[and then another text right after]

And a sense of normalcy.

Are any of your friends here?

Normalcy is overrated.

ootorospring October 31 2011, 02:57:29 UTC
Yes, three from home and a few that I've made while I've been here as well.

Not at all. There's a point where things are too much.

That helps a ton. I don't know what I would do if I didn't have some friends from home. People would probably think I'm mad for carrying around a wand!

That point is different for everyone.
