Well, we've one more chapter to go! But both Jackie and I wanted to take them on past the trauma of finding the chain, and allow them to recover a bit among friends and family.
This was a really nice chapter, especially after all that happened in the last one. I'm glad they were quickly able to put the worst of the grief behind them.
I especially liked the scenes in the Green Dragon and the taffy pull. I always thought you had to pull it more than once though.
That's the amazing thing about hobbits - they don't dwell on their grief or troubles. And now they are able to accept that Frodo did indeed have to leave the Shire and go beyond the Sea in order to find his healing.
I suppose it depends upon the thickness of the taffy how many times you have to pull it, but for simplicity's sake, we just had it pulled once in this story. Didn't Barbara write a wonderful scene in the Green Dragon? I enjoyed reading it thoroughly!
I had a lot of fun with The Green Dragon scene. I thought it would be nice to give the three of them a bit of time to "decompress". And I always love writing the Cotton brothers!
Thank you! We thought it would help provide the closure that Merry, Pippin, and Sam needed. We've really enjoyed figuring out what would be in that box of Frodo's and writing this story.
Thank you! From the very beginning, we intended this story to be about healing and comfort for Merry, Pippin, and Sam after Frodo left the Shire for Tol Eressea. We're glad it was able to provide you comfort as well!
