Tack! You went through a category three or four? Goodness, how bad was your damage?
Thanks for the offer, but we're fine. My secretary, who lives farther north, has access to more supplies and can get us anything we can't get down here. Good news! My sister was able to find a grocery store with eggs yesterday, so things are looking up!
Welcome back, dear! I had been worried about you! Sounds like your neighborhood was hit about as bad as mine was in Katrina, except you got your power back sooner.
Our fence was also a casualty. We have it patched up with odds and ends so we can let the dogs out, LOL!
I hope you have better luck with your insurance. It's been over two months, and we've yet to see hide nor hair of our adjustor.
It's good to be back! Where do you live on the Gulf Coast? I imagined that your area would have been hit a lot harder than ours was, considering that Katrina was a category five when she hit you.
We've propped part of our fence up and are keeping an eye on it. As for the main part of our fence that is down, we take turns with our neighbour letting our dogs out, so that only their dogs or ours are out roaming the two yards at any one time.
We've filed our insurance claim and now are playing the waiting game. I just finished reading your LJ entry about your insurance claim and that's horrible! It's traumatic enough to go through a hurricane like that, let alone to have the insurance company make you become a victim all over again. Good luck and enjoy your mini-holiday!
Well, we live in Gulfport. But we are lucky in that we live north of I-10, which runs east-west about 7 or 8 miles north of the beach. It acts as a sort of wind/water break. We did get some severe wind damage, but nothing like what they got south of I-10, and of course the worst areas were south of the RR tracks, which also act as a sort of barrier, and run east-west about a mile north of the beach. Of course there are some severely damaged places in our subdivision, mostly tree damage, where trees fell on top of houses. We were lucky in that most of our trees fell on the fence and carport. What caused our roof damage was the damage to our porches, which messed the roof up where they attach to the house. When the demolition people came to take our porches down we found the damage was worse than we thought
