Fred's details! What larks! What japes!

Updated to be DH canon-complaint

Name: Frederick Weasley

Birthday: 1 April, 1988

Deathdate if Applicable: Pending.

Years at Hogwarts: 1989 - 27 April, 1996 (left mid-seventh year)

Blood Status: Pureblood

Physical Characteristics: Ginger and freckly, naturally. Shorter than Bill, Charlie (but not by much), Percy and Ron. Not hugely muscular, but reasonably athletic due to all the Beating, boundless energy and relative clean-living. Tiny scar on the side of his neck where a Lolly Leech got stuck for two days. Small birthmark (where a group of ambitious freckles got together and had a chat) on his inner thigh. Bears an uncanny resemblance to a certain George Weasley.

Brief description of character's personality: Fred thrives on attention, and loves having it directed at him. If he can’t be famous, he’d rather be infamous than mediocre. He loves to make people laugh, whereas he feels oppressed and becomes awkward whenever he encounters sadness. Fred himself almost never cries. Fred has difficulty communicating negative emotions to people, feeling guilty and embarrassed that he experiences them at all, and usually makes excuses or apologizes for himself, instead of confronting them. He is fiercely protective of his family, especially Ginny. Fred is highly inventive, and is always looking for new distractions - he can’t bear to be bored.

There are a few less nice aspects of Fred’s character. Popular and funny, he sometimes gets too cocky with his jibes and teasing, and turns into a bit of a bully. While having no blood-related prejudices whatsoever, he's a bit of a chauvinist - alright, some girls (i.e. Ginny, Verity and Ange) might be as good as (or even better than) boys, but he still considers females the weaker sex. Fred usually tries to cover up his homophobia if he likes the individual in question, but it's still very present under the surface, and it can be problematic.

Sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll: Apart from the standard Firewhisky down the pub, Fred doesn't drink, and if he did, it would have to be with the aim of getting absolutely hammered - otherwise, he doesn't see the point. Fred is indifferent to drugs, but hates smoking and the fact that a lot of his year went through a phase of thinking it insanely cool - he can't imagine a more boring way to spend one's time. Even though Fred has a fairly colourful romantic history, he isn't necessarily always a hit with the ladies. Some girls are understandably turned off by his apparent immaturity, humble background and less-than-subtle methods (peanut-throwing features), so he's not quite as much of a player as he thinks he is. As a consolation, most girls find him endearing, even if they aren't weak at the knees.

Fred doesn't get music the way he gets sport - as long as it's loud enough and you can dance wildly to it, it's good enough for him. Boys who like music tend to be smokers and poofters in his experience - apart from Kenneth, who isn't gay. At least Fred doesn't think he is.

Things Fred is --> likeable, generous, vain, thoughtful, considerate, hardworking (as long as he sees merit in the work, that is), judgemental.
Things Fred is not --> practical, reasonable, fair, selfish, patient, possesive, a coward, George, a martyr
Things Fred can be, but isn't often --> insecure, intuitive.

Sexual Orientation: Straight as a very straight pole that is standing exactly perpendicular to a completely flat surface.
Some might say that this determined heterosexuality is actually mere denial, to which Fred might say: fuck you.

NEWT Subjects: are for lesser beings.

Additional Info on Subjects: Fred is extremely proud of his T(roll) in History of Magic. He received a terse note with his results saying that Trolls were “only awarded to the most acutely and unremittingly repellent papers submitted by candidates”. He had it framed.

Fred couldn’t resist showing off a little bit in Potions, though, scoring himself an - unexpected - E.

His academic success in the main was hugely variable, depending on whether he considered the topic worth his time, whether he liked the teacher, and whether the class afforded good opportunities to play tricks.

Role Models: Bill Weasley, Charlie Weasley, Percy Weasley, Oliver Wood, Zonko (until he and George became disillusioned with him at the age of 15 when they discovered that he didn't do the majority of inventing himself and had 'sold out' quite spectacularly).

Friends/Acquaintances: Fred is liked by practically everyone in his house, and although many would claim that they 'know' him, he has only a handful of close friends. George is his best friend, and always will be. He’s also ‘best’ friends with Lee Jordan, and is extremely fond of the three girls on Ollie Wood's original Quidditch team. He and George share a dorm with Kenneth Towler, who they love to wind up. Oliver Wood is one of the few people Fred really respects (although it wouldn’t do to show it). He is on good terms with all of the Trio, especially Hermione, whose no-nonsense attitude he finds rather sexy.

Enemies: The majority of the Hogwarts teaching staff, Percy Weasley for a considerable amount of time (if Fred’s crushing indifference can be described as enmity), Dolores Umbridge, Ludo Bagman, Cousin Mafalda, any young male who tries to get Ginny Weasley into bed. Or even contemplates getting her into bed. Or even looks like he might be contemplating trying to get her into bed. Plus pretty much everyone affiliated with Lord Voldemort.

Relationships: Fred’s had quite a few non-relationships over the years that never amounted to anything more lasting than a quick snog and fumble at a party. This was mainly due to Fred’s lack of interest in pursuing anything further and his extremely short attention span. Depending on who you talk to, he might even have had a one-night fling with Hermione. The only girl that ever managed to keep Fred for the long-term was Angelina Johnson, with whom he shared a lot of heated arguments. Despite their relationship being extremely passionate (once Fred's intial stupidity wore off), they drifted steadily apart once he quit school, and the twins' best friend Lee picked up the pieces.

Post-Hogwarts, Fred managed to pick up a few quite silly, pretty girls due to the media attention the shop generated, but they each lasted for less time than it takes milk to go off. Fred then went through a period of throwing himself into his work and pretty much ignoring the opposite sex. During this time, he spent a night in the storeroom with his shop-assistant Verity, who he was always very affectionate with. (On the subject of Verity, Fred refuses to confirm or deny anything, but blushes a lot.) If asked about Bill's wedding, Fred will claim to have been a perfect gentleman with Fleur's cousin Axelle in the shed, although he does admit it was "avec la lingue".

Plans for After Hogwarts: Weasleys’ Wizarding Wheezes World Domination. (He’s thinking it might boost sales if he installs a Starbucks in the Diagon Alley branch.) Fred is utterly incapable of thinking in the long-term, but has the vague idea that things won't ever be too terrible as long as he has three things: Laughs, ladies love and George.

Miscellany:
Wand - Depends. He has several, including one he uses in the workshop when it's likely his own would get destroyed. Some turn into rubber poultry when waved, and he uses George's as often as he does his own.
Patronus - A bear.
Boggart - A woman crying inconsolably.
