Books to read

Jun 16, 2028 23:51

I think I have posted something similar to this a few years ago, but I'm going to do a new one here.. With something different. I'm going to put a list of books I want to read, then check them off when I am done reading them as well as provide a link to a commentary of what I thought of each book. The blue color means I haven't read them yet ( Read more... )

marguerite duras
carson mccullers
simone de beauvoir

they are really outstanding writers in my opinion and i have read books by other women, but those three (and i think someone is missing!?) are worth for anybody to try any book written by them.
but i have to admit i haven´t read as many books written by women than by men. hmmm... well, i don´t care much about gender, i just read what seems interesting to me.
but i am really looking for a science fiction book in the style of vonnegut or even stanislaw lem by a woman. is that lady atwood writing scifi stuff?

books. a good theme to start a day.

Glad someone else knows Simone De Beauvior...she writes great philosophy... I also suggest I and Thou by Martin Buber (1923). I and Thou has released a decent translation by Walter Kauffman. There are too many good books in the world for the time it takes to list them all. :)

Funny, the places we get these days, just by clicking on an icon. And that 10 years after this entry was written, 10 years after this journal was last written in, I find the name of a book (The Boy Engineer) that might interest my grandson. As well as another (Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance) that I shared with a friend more than 40 years ago--that friend and the beautiful, inquiring mind that was his having recently passed away, unbeknownst to me, from the effects of Alzheimer's. So thanks, random stranger, for sharing your "to read list" as well as your art. Hope the years between now and the time you wrote this have been good ones for you...
