This poor neglected journal has been getting dusty lately. Oh well, I get to show those Warlord pieces at the end of the month, and one of these days (hopefully soon!) I'll manage to finish that Zeno's paradox of a personal painting. In the meantime, I finally broke down and joined Twitter - Read more... )

Analytical Figure, and it was ABSOLUTELY worth the money. I got so much better in my structure over the course of that class, and so did my roommate. I know I, in particular, frequently need to be yelled at to fix my structure; most of the stuff I struggle with is in the first 30 minutes of working on something (proportion, structure, clarity of form, perspective, planning, etc.) whereas all the detailing is relatively easy, so it meant the class really helped me remove some of my bad habits. The class was about $500 (maybe 1/4 the cost of a SCAD class) with way more content than all but a few of my SCAD classes ever contained.

Union? Animator's union or something? I'm always on the lookout for good life drawing places... I presently go to a costumed one in Glendale, which is frequently awesome, but I wouldn't be opposed to alternating with a good naked one.

Don from the illo dept.? Yeah, as far as I know, he's still teaching. He was pretty much the only prof over there I got along with, truth be told.

Eh, for a ten week class, where you'd probably be paying ~20 per model session, it's essentially paying $30 for the teacher's critique and lessons per session, which isn't bad.

HAHAHA oh man, there is a huge reason most SCAD alums are uh... quite bitter towards the old alma mater, despite having costs defrayed by scholarships. Still, I hear identical complaints to mine from virtually every college grad from the last 5 years or so, so mostly I'd say ateliers are more worth it anyway.

Glendale's $20 per session.

I think it must be a different guy, then - the illustration prof never worked at Disney so far as I know, though he did work in some marketing firm in ATL for ten years.
