I think part of it, too is that as we get older and move further up a company, there's less people to be social with. Your old company was bottom heavy, I imagine, so there's whole "streams" of people who come in at the same age.
Now, we're in such lean levels, it's kinda hard!
That's just my theory. I feel like I'm in a different place as many of my peers, that socially, we can't really go out much more than once/twice a month. So, I get close to my co-associates on my brand and then when we move brands/get promoted, the social dynamic changed again. Frustrating.

my company (at least in my department) has no junior/entry level positions. everyone's a senior. so i don't know if that is the reason there are no real social circles that spring up - everyone is pretty much already pretty ahead in their careers!
maybe in other departments it's different.
and yeah, i kinda agree with your theory there. my old company operated like an extension of college almost! a whole slew of freshmen came every year!

and yeah, i kinda agree with your theory there. my old company operated like an extension of college almost! a whole slew of freshmen came every year!
