I like to dress up. I like to wear fancy cloths when going on dates or to important dinners. I like putting on costumes. I'm a little sad I don't dress up for Purim anymore

Itai, those are stereotypical representations of nerds on TV, not the actual behaviors of nerds, so why wonder about the motives for something that nobody is really doing?

Also (haven't seen the SS show), do these characters actually describe themselves as Gay, or is it just Sarah who does?

They're a couple, so I guess you could say they describe themselves as gay. I should say that their portrayal as gay is not done in a mocking way - there's nothing wrong, per the show, with the fact that they're gay. Just with the fact that they're geeks.
