Like its my job?

Question for all of you out there:  do I look like I work in retail?  Like is it the way I stand or something?  The way I generally dress?  Because I get asked more often than normal if I work at places when I am shopping in them.  I really don't understand it.  And what is most amusing is that most of such places do actually have a uniform of some ( Read more... )

That also happens to me a lot. It's not really irksome though, I mean, I used to work retail. I think it usually comes down to three things: context, clothing, and whatever aura you're projecting at the moment. Basically, you either seem like the kind of person that store would hire (and this can be rather sexist), or you have similar clothes to someone that actually does work at the store, or you simply don't look as lost as the person looking for help.

It might also be because chain stores in general have almost nobody on the fucking sales floor when you need them.

It probably a combination of above reasons given...

But most probably because you don't appear lost and you look approachable. Some retail stores I don't even go now... as some sales/customer service people appears put upon at times.

And verily I say unto you: skirts are BETTER when it's hot. They're, like, infinitely cooler. And the chafing thing is why Ceiling Cat invented numerous products that will soothe you. Praise Ceiling Cat. :-P

Steph is getting ren faire garb? *happy dance* Sadly enough my dorkiness has reached the point where I have to decide which ren faire outfit to wear. Kilt or pants, fancy or simple, long sleeved or sleevless...I know, I know, my nerd is showing regardless of what I pick :P
