Happy Easter everyone!

This morning's sermon had me thinking about the importance of Easter to Christianity, and more specifically, the importance of Christ's resurrection to Christianity. First, let me deal with the whole "three days later" thing. In the Bible, most passages concerning Christ's resurrection say, "on the third day he was raised from the dead." From my ( Read more... )

To me, the reason the Resurrection is so important isn't because it proves there's an afterlife, it's important because if Christ did not rise, He was NOT the Son of God, and His entire ministry was a lie... and thus so is Christianity. Without that crucial miracle, the Christian faith is a sham.

The Crucifixion was my payment for sin... and the Resurrection is my proof that Jesus had the right to pay that price in my stead.

That's what it means to me.

And thank you, for posting this. I got so caught up in family things today, that I did not even think on it, and I should definitely pay Jesus that homage.

Thank you for pointing out another reason that the Resurrection is so important to Christianity. I can't believe that I forgot to write that one in my post.

So where do the Easter Bunny come in to play?

Sorry, had to ask. I wasn't a joke though when I asked it my first year at GSU. I went to church on Easter and learned for the first time what the holiday was about. I guess my mother just assumed I knew up to that point.

I know you're kidding with me, but your question made me curious. I ended up looking up the Easter Bunny at Wikipedia and found this article. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easter_Bunny
Enjoy! BTW, how are things in SC?

For me there are two miracles that are central to my faith, the first is that Mary was a virgin when she gave birth to Jesus, this is the evidence of his divinity and his unique man/God nature ( ... )

Thank you for sharing your thoughtful perspective of how Easter is so important to Christianity and Christians and yourself. Just the other day, my high school students asked me where hell was and if it was truly a hot place/in the center of the earth. Your comment clearly answers their question. Hell is a place, but it's better described as the experience of being separated from God.

God's love for us is so amazing and is beyond comprehension. The love that we share with friends and family on this earth doesn't even begin to compare with God's love for us. I mean, he gave his son to die for us and our sins. There is no greater love than that.
