World Pressin' Down - I wouldn't have guessed a Neil Young influence, although I can hear it in the harmonica solo. I'm not that familiar with Time Fades Away, I've only heard it 2 or 3 times. I remember it being a very raw-sounding album. Good song, btw. It'll be fun to hear what it sounds like with drums.

Egg Shell - I really like the penny whistle solo! More of that stuff in the future. It's hard for me to listen to this song and not think about Scrambled Eggs (the early working title of Yesterday....."Scrambled eggs, oh baby how I love your legs"). Some of the lines are a bit awkward. "Cook her up and eat her," and stuff like that. It makes my stomach feel weird when I hear that line! "I didn't know that yolk could look so yellow" sings kind of weird, but

but......I like how it leads into "spinning on the ground" and then comes to a stop. That's cool. I need to listen to this some more, I'm still forming opinions on it. I like the reverby guitar.

I've had both Old Emotions and Soap & Water on my computer for a while now. I like both of them. Old Emotions definitely sounds like something from your In Step period....not surprised it dates back to that time. I wonder what it'd sound like if Brian was singing on it? It is a cool little countryish solo on this one, I agree.

I really like the guitar and chords of Soap & Water. Is that in an alternate tuning? You know what would really sound cool on this one....Gillian Welch herself singing harmony with you on the "Gonna get clean" part! I like this song a lot. It doesn't really need much more, in terms of production.

Thanks for listening, and I'm glad you enjoyed them! You'll be happy to know that "Empty" was my attempt to write a Ryan Adams style song. I wrote it just after Demolition came out, and I think I was trying to model the chorus after "Nuclear". Ended up not really sounding like Ryan at all, which is how it usually works when you try to write songs like other people :)

Btw, I'll be at Serious Coffee this Wednesday night @ 7:00 if you can make it.
