This is my story for Rain's departure for the Military. Had it for a while, just never posted. So, here you go.
The sun shown in through the large window in Rain's bedroom, saturating every shadow in blindingly golden rays of light. Rain rolled onto his side reaching out his arms to wrap around a body that was obviously in absence.
He rolled back onto his back, sighing as he did. He knew that without a certain brunette beside him to cuddle with and hold tight, there was no chance of him going back to sleep anytime soon.
So, slowly rising off the bed, his body (which was still sore from the strenuous workout it'd received just the night before)-moved lethargically to grab a miscellaneous pair of boxers off of the ground to slip on.
He dragged his feet as he headed toward the kitchen where his brunette had, seemingly, wandered off to. And there Lee Changsun was, his back to Rain as he looked out the window in thought.
It was a scary thing to Lee Changsun in deep thought like that. The two years Rain had spent training the 4D idol had taught him a few things. Lee Joon, as Changsun was called, was dense at most-in his outward appearance at least- and loved to entertain. He was deeply effected when someone said they didn't like him, because he was a crowd pleaser. He was caring and sweet, and only wanted the best for those around him. In short, he was someone Jung Jihoon could easily fall in love with; And indeed, had.
Joon was dressed in a oversized t-shirt that only came to about mid-thigh, if even that. A sleeve was hanging endearingly off of one of Joon's perfect shoulders. Rain smiled in a bitter-sweet manner before walking up behind Joon, wrapping his arms around the boy's small but lethal frame. He felt Joon tense up, relax and he waited a spell before deciding to speak. "Hey-babe, what're you thinking about so hard?" He asked, his words muffled into Joon's baby-soft brunette locks.
For awhile, all was still, and abnormally silent. Joon's small, and for the first time, vulnerable voice served as the ice-breaker, "Jihoon-hyung- do you... Love me?" Rain was perplexed by such an unforeseen inquisition as this. "Changsun-ah, what kind of a question is that? You know I do! What's wrong with you?"
Joon just silently cried, tears leaving streaks on his cheeks as they fell. Rain felt him shaking, and it was obvious the other was weeping. He grabbed Joon's shoulders, turning him [Joon] around to face him.
Rain just stared into Joon's glassy orbs for a spell, waiting for Joon to calm down.
"You love me, Jihoon-hyung, but how can you be so calm about this?"
"About what Changsun?! About what?!" Rain was shouting now, and he himself couldn't even tell you why.
"ABOUT THIS!" Joon yelled back jabbing a letter into his face. 'Oh no... He found it... /sigh' Rain thought to himself before taking the letter and lying it back on the counter.
"Don't worry about that Yeobo, it's -"
"DON'T EVEN SAY IT'S NOTHING HYUNG! You're going to the military in TWO DAYS and didn't even think to tell me?! Don't you think that's something important, not just to me, but also to the future of MBLAQ?" "Changsun." "When were you planning to tell me? Today? Tomorrow?" "Changsun..." "or were you just going to leave a note on the bed saying you were going to be gone for TWO YEARS and that you want me to wait on you? And- and-"
"CHANGSUN! Listen to me! I was going to tell you. I just- wanted to pretend for at least a little longer that it was just a bad dream. I don't want to leave you baby. I love you. What will I do without you? Without your smile, laugh, 4D personality, stuttering, inability to do even the simplest math equations, or even your cooking? What will I do?"
"But Yeobo, Joon, Changsun... This isn't forever okay? And this isn't a 'goodbye' for us. It's a 'see you later'. When I have a break or vacation, I'll see how you and the guys are doing, so don't worry okay?" Rain knew this wasn't going to be easy to do. Joon is a fragile person, and right now, Rain is watching his heart break, and there's not a thing he can do to stop it. So he just grabs Joon's chin between his thumb and forefinger and leans in, brushing his lips against Joon's in what begins as a chaste, innocent kiss- but quickly turns into a heated, passionate make out session between the two star-crossed lovers.
Jihoon and Changsun spend the next 48 hours making love, and just enjoying one another's company. But soon enough, albeit too soon the bus that would transport soldiers to Basic Training would pull up in the yard. It was 7am sharp and Changsun was still in bed. Jihoon was busy packing the last of his belongings and when he had finished, he walked over to the Dry-Erase board Changsun had put up in their room and jotted down his departure date before capping the marker and putting it away.
He didn't want to wake up Changsun because he knew it'd be harder for him to leave that way; but as he was leaving he stepped on one of Changsun's childishly discarded toys, which squeaked causing Changsun to sit up and look around before spotting him. "Jihoon-hyung...? Why're you up? It's too early. Come back to bed...?" Jihoon walked to Changsun before whispering, "Changsun-ah, Hyung has to go away for a while, okay? But I'll be back, I'll visit you when I have breaks. You just do your military service to me and keep Us going? Don't forget about me. I'll be back before you know it."
Changsun nodded simply before sliding out of bed, clothed only in one of Jihoon's dress shirts, and hugging Jihoon tightly. "Just do your best and come back to me safe, neh?" Jihoon smiled charmingly before bringing Changsun into a passionate kiss. After which, he picked up his duffel bag, and walked out of their room towards the front door with Changsun following close behind.
Changsun found that watching Jihoon walk away from him was the most heart-breaking experience he'd ever had. Jihoon got on the bus as soon as it pulled up without even looking back, but it was better that way. Changsun smiled and waved until the bus was out of his view, then shut the front door, locked it, and slid to the floor in a crying, sniffling mess.
It was weeks before Jihoon texted.
"Changsun-ah, I'm the Luckiest Soldier in the World. The Army isn't as bad as I had originally thought. I should be able to visit you soon, I miss you and I can't wait to see you. I hope you're not too lonely without me there. Saranghae Yeobo. I'll be home soon."
