I got off the subway this evening at my usual stop, from my usual position at the door directly ahead of the conductor, which lets me off right in front of the exit. But as my neighbors and I squeezed off the train I got edged just far enough back from the front of the pack that it was impossible to break free. Re: black gook: what I find appalling is thinking that that sooty sludge is also the residue of the air that we are _breathing_ every day. (And people wonder why urban rates of asthma are higher. Like this is a medical mystery???)

I meant to ask at Boskone -- where would you recommend I start? I see Voice and Library Volume 1, and I don't know if there's any overlap.

Of course "get both!" is an acceptable answer.

You could read Voice without reading Vol. 1, but I think you'll get more out of it if you read 'em in order of original publication. Or at least read Vol. 1 first -- I don't think there's anything in Vol. 2 that would directly affect your experience of Voice.
