We are almost two weeks into the new year and I am a week into working for my goals. I thought Mondays might be a good day to check in and see how I'm doing.
1. Lose at least 30 pounds.
I have been doing okay on this one. I rejoined WeightWatchers, but haven't been doing the program too well. I am getting back into the groove of cooking and eating at home though, and am satisfied with the baby steps. So far I am up 1 lb for the year. Next weigh-in is tomorrow.
2. Finish unpacking.
Made a lot of progress with this one on New Year's weekend, but nothing since then. Emptied out my storage unit and did a first pass clean up of my office and guest bedroom. Still have a lot to do!
3. Pay off my credit card.
So far, so good. I've put my credit card in a separate section of my wallet to make me think twice and it's worked pretty well so far, even though I have wanted to pull it out several times. I have a feeling this will get easier as I eat at home more and spend a LOT less on food.
4. Get 1.5 hours or more of exercise each week.
HUGE SUCCESS! I think this is going to be the most challenging for me. I've decided to do the Couch to 5K program (
http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml ). Last week I got up early on Monday and Wednesday and jogged before work. I also ran on Saturday, completing Week 1. This morning I started Week 2, in spite of the cold! I'm proud of myself on this one. :)
Otherwise, things are going okay for me. Unfortunately, I heard from my best friend from high school yesterday that her engagement has been called off and her fiance has broken up with her. I am really bummed about that, and I hope she'll be okay. The wedding was planned for August, and this is really a surprise, but I guess better now than after the wedding. Thinking about how she must be feeling makes me a little nauseous.
