man, i've got to learn photoshop. i've tried to build a lot of sites coding by hand using a little dhtml, but they never turn out right. what kind of things can you do to a site's layout with photoshop (what did you use it for on feibus and kramer's website)?
theaeffect.com is mostly a bunch of Div id's and classes from the style sheet sitting on top of one large image, which contains everything except for the page's actual text, transparent gifs, and the email list form, which I've positioned using the style sheet. ( see http://theaeffect.com/img/back.gif ) I then put transparent gifs over anything that needed to be linked, like the scroll buttons and the link to the winamp skin and tour diary, again by positioning them in the style sheet. I should have mentioned how heavily style sheets play into the design.
And making that image in Photoshop wasn't difficult or time consuming. The current design on the site is meant to be temporary, until the new album comes out and there is an overall theme. So Aaron and I agreed I wouldn't spend too much time on the design right now. I'd say in less than a week of working, you'd be able to have the technical skill in Photoshop to make a simple image as such.
