I hear ya. One thing I thought of today is the distinct possibility that my quasi-hermit lifestyle during my Africa years had an effect on me and the way I chose to manage my time. I like giant blocks of time with several interchangeable goals, rather than an itemized list complete with mandatory timetable.

I'm sure plenty of people would agree to that for themselves and their needs.

By-the-by, you might have liked it there. Sure, 5 days would probably have been beyond your limit, but the beauty of the place would not have passed by your notice.

That sounds like you made an excellent retreat for yourself. You're going to make a damn fine Shepherd, err, priest. That's the one. :)

I find myself intrigued (and possibly defined) by the apparent contradictions throughout my life. I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Heh. Indeed. One thing I liked about that tension of life wasn't about my life's contradictions but rather of faith in general.

"There are no contradictions when it comes to faith. There are paradoxes, and that's not the same thing!"

I resonate well with that quote somehow. And thanks, I hope to be a good Space Shepherd to my friends and loved ones. Truly one of the great characters of sci fi.

That's a good quote. Paradox is a good word for it. From the outside, it looks like a pile of contradictions, but from the inside, it all fits together somehow.
