Rose hadn’t gone to mass this morning. She knew she should, but she’d quite possibly - okay, definitely - overexerted herself training yesterday, and moving, even walking down to the church, seemed like way too much effort

Lissa was still dressed for church when she made her way to Rose's room. Her blonde hair was piled high on her head in a near imitation of a crown, and that plus the closely fit ice blue silk dress made her look more like a young queen than ever.
"You skipped church," she commented as she moved to the bed. The words sounded amused, like it was what she expected, but her expression was worried as she saw Rose laying down.
"So I'll owe God one," Rose shot back, feeling more than a little ungraceful as she got up off the bed. The stitches were gone, but things still pulled differently.
Her expression mimicked Lissa's worry for a moment as she hesitated and weighed protocol with this being Lissa. Too many hours of the last few weeks had been filled with specific Court and monarch etiquette instruction that had bored Rose to tears but apparently also stuck.
She shook her head as she saw Rose hesitating and reached to pull the other girl into a hug. "Stop it," she murmured, feeling herself relax a little just being near her best friend. "When has Rose Hathaway ever paid attention to etiquette?"
The conflict and worry in Rose's face was evident, and Lissa frowned at both of them for not seeking out the other sooner.
Rose leaned into the hug, squeezing Liss close even as she ran headlong into that wall that kept her from knowing what Lissa was feeling. She could feel the slight relaxation and had seen both amusement and concern on Lissa's face, but what was behind that, what was in her Queen's head, Rose had no idea.
"I just didn't want to wrinkle your dress," she snarked weakly as they parted, both feeling oddly better at being reunited.
Jaina really did try to keep in contact with people in Fandom when she had a chance, especially since her time was moving extra fast. Today she decided it was Rose's turn, and since she was currently traveling from Planet A to Planet B, she set aside some time to stop strategizing and make a call.
"You infected me," Rose retorted, grinning widely. "Jaina! Where are you and when'd you change your name to Skywalker?" Yup, couldn't help the bad joke.
As Jack moved the last of his things into his student flat, it occurred to him that almost no one from Fandom knew where he was living anymore. He hadn't seen or heard from Rose in months, and he missed her; this seemed like an excellent reason to check in.
He took a photo showing his current contact information, then tapped out a text to send with it.
Am back in London. New address attached. How was your summer? Still w/princess?
Emma wasn't sixteen anymore; staying down with Hank in the tunnels until she could move into the dorms was driving her slowly crazy, even though he was showing marked signs of improvement with the slow - but steady - telepathic therapy they'd been doing over the last two years. It was too small, too cramped, and the smell of formaldehyde was giving her a headache.
Which is why she'd climbed her way up to the surface and now found herself in Central Park, up a tree for privacy. It was only 2001; she couldn't let people see her phone.
is this thing even working? or are you in siberia again with no service?
of course you were. everyone talks about me. I'm popular. If a text could sound smug, Emma's so would. next state over my world, or your world, or off on some magical adventure?

Nope - with Queen. Also cleared of murder charges. Busy summer. You?
She shouldn't enjoy being so cryptic, but Jack of all people would appreciate it.

There was no way he could fit any possible response in 140 characters, and she had to know that.
"You just had to make me pay overseas calling charges, didn't you?"
