I don't pimp my own, though I get tempted every once in a while -- I think we all crave reviews -- but I have a friend who does pumps her fics in every way possible. She gets considerably more reviews than I, and quantity is what's important to her, so it's a good system for her. It wouldn't work for me, though, because I need to feel like the review was because the person enjoyed the story enough to want to review (or at least read it well enough to give reasonable criticism. When I feel like the reviewer just skimmed the story enough to give me a review because I asked (or strongly hinted) then it tends to have the opposite affect on my confidence.

I do get some comments. Some are nice - not really critquing - but saying just that they enjoyed the story.

I guess what bothers me is when I get one word comments like: "Interesting."

I'm left thinking...elaborate please! Lol

*nods* Reviews like "Interesting..." drive me crazy! Are they saying they thought it was interesting, or are they saying they thought it was too oddball an idea to pull off.

Even worse are reviews like "Um...okay." What am I suppose to make of that. If it's a criticism, give me something to work with to improve the tale. If it's not intended as a criticism, say so. If it's just an acknowledgement that the person read it, I can see that much from the click count.
