[The snow was quite thick on the ground and midnight well past by the time Yue had given in and gone to get some rest, but he was still up early enough to go out for a morning flight over the village. He dislikes snow while it falls, but once it's on the ground he has to admit its beauty, especially as the first light of morning reflects off of it.
He notices some rather... odd behavior in the village as he flies, though, more people moving about than he's become accustomed to, and in different ways. (The singing is definitely unusual.) Could it be that one of the "experiments" he's been warned of is beginning?
Accordingly, Yue turns back to the house again, intending to fetch the journal he'd left behind and see if there is any information to be found. As he approaches the house he slows, sensing an unusual and yet somehow bizarrely familiar presence there, to match the dark figure perched on the roof. In his usual spot. What on earth

Yue. [He smiles as though the sun has just come up after days of darkness. It feels as though Yue's been gone for days, even if he'd only stepped out for a moment. Touya lifts off the roof and floats closer to Yue, continuing to smile.]
[Yue's eyes widen slightly at that -- both the tone of voice and the behavior are unusual for Touya, and then the fact that his abilities suddenly mirror Yue's own? It has to be some kind of trick. An impostor with a similar enough presence that it can fool him. Or is it one of the Malnosso "experiments" he'd been told about?
Either way, this is... weird. He automatically draws back as Touya approaches, wings lifting higher with mild agitation.]
[Touya stops in mid-air, floating above the ground now instead of the roof. He looks hurt, confused. If there's one person he knows, it's Yue--and he looks almost... annoyed at Touya's being there.]
Yeah... I see that now. I guess I just missed you, so the minutes seemed to drag on.
[Touya looks awkwardly at the roof. What did he do to upset Yue?]
Are you upset because we didn't have sex last night?
Uh... [Great, now he just seems more upset. That must have been it.]
We didn't... make love? [Is that a better way to phrase it? Sometimes he was so blunt... Obviously his love couldn't take being so open about their relationship.]
If you had wanted to, you could have just woken me up. [He smiles and floats closer to Yue. Maybe some midair cuddling will do the trick.] You know I can't say no to you, love.
[That move prompts Yue to more movement than just the drifting-away he's been doing up to this point -- now he stiffens with alarm and drives himself up and away with a beat of his wings, eyes still wide with something like shock.]
[Touya, again, looks as though Yue's torn out his heart and squeezed. Yue's running from him. Why is he running from him? It's like Yue doesn't recognize him...]
I am Touya... [He floats backward, as an act of good faith.] You can sense me the same way I can sense you, can't you? You know it's me, so why...? [He trails off, honestly lost.]
[Why the sad-puppy eyes, Touya. Why. Those are for Yukito, if he's done something... well, okay, Yukito is probably incapable of doing something that would evoke a look like that. But it still isn't an expression that should be focused on him.
Yue tries to focus, but his senses are still telling him the same thing: Touya's magic is back, and more than back. And... weirdly similar to his own. Which doesn't make any sense at all.
For the moment he stays exactly where he is, confused, uncertain, and wary. And uninterested in getting too close to someone so oddly familiar who wants to talk about things that aren't.]
Yeah... [Touya looks distressed. How could Yue have forgotten? Had this place done something to him to make him forget? Or was this part of that 'some people don't remember things that happened to you' thing?]
I was dying. From... some disease, I can't remember what it was but. You gave me my power back and turned me into a guardian to save my life.
[The whole experience was intense, to put it lightly. There was no way Yue could have forgotten, maybe it just hadn't happened to him yet.]
[The response is quick, flat, and absolutely certain. It wasn't possible, not in the slightest: he was a guardian, created to protect his master. That was all. He couldn't... somehow create a guardian like himself, much less turn a human into anything else. Sakura could perhaps create her own guardians eventually, once her own powers matured, but he? Never.
But then why was Touya like... the way he was? It had to be one of the experiments he'd been warned of. If this was the Malnosso idea of fun, twisting someone to become what they could not, implanting impossible memories, then he'd certainly be willing to join the ranks of those who hated them.]

[He spreads his wings slightly to demonstrate. How could he have wings and powers if he wasn't a guardian now?] I mean, I'm not as good with the bow as you are yet, but I can at least fly without falling now...?
[Touya's hoping that some small memory or recollection will jumpstart Yue's mind. 'Not possible'? How could it be impossible when Yue had done it just a few days ago? Touya was there, he nearly died from it.]
We're bonded together. [His voice is quiet now, as though he's trying to reassure himself.] You gave me your blood, I'm a part of you...
[Seriously, why does this get creepier and more disturbing the more Touya keeps talking.
