Huh. I was just in the library the other day, and it turns out that there were some clippings about me and Rua. Weird, huh?
They're about the time I fell into my coma, about eight years ago. They're from the Tatsu no Kiba papers.

One of them was very strange, though. )

It has to do with being the best bit of someone's soul sealed into a great stone tablet, being shuffled off to a nice alternate dimension, and being painted into playing cards when that Pegasus fellow got a clever idea about us.

Lady Necrofear!

So Mister Crawford based the game on tablets in Egypt? Huh...

Do you remember the person whose soul you used to be a part of?

I'd be rather interested in finding out, but I've not the faintest idea, really; my early years are so dreadfully fuzzy that I'd only give myself a headache trying to sort them out. I expect it was a noble and glorious person of such terrible beauty and grandeur that lesser mortals wept at the sight. At the very least it was someone quite forward-thinking.

I think so, too.

Huh. Now I wonder what mine would look like.

A darling little Fairy type, perhaps? Or maybe something surprisingly tall and strong, as one never knows with these things. Alas, I'm not certain myself how you'd go about summoning your ka without having it ripped out of you, and let's do avoid that.

That other woman mentioned that they were put into tablets? But Mana said that can summon hers out whenever she wants.

I don't believe the soul of origin survives the sealing process, either. I expect there's some clever trick to summoning one's ka; do you suppose my dear Mana might instruct you?

You think she would? It seems like it'd be really difficult.

A fair point, that. You ought to ask her first whether failed attempts are likely to result in explosions.

Mana would be a good teacher, though, right?

And here would probably be the safest place to learn something like this, right? Since we'll just come back a few hours later?

Mana would certainly be an enthusiastic teacher, yes.

I'd rather you didn't blow up, dear, as I've quite liked having one of my favorite squishy mortal things manage to elude death for so long. That said, in the unfortunate event something terminal befalls you, do bring me back a handful of those fancy little chocolates from heaven, won't you?

I've been here... three months now? How long do most people here go before dying for the first time?

Heaven has chocolates? ... huh. Well, I guess that makes sense. Okay.

Generally that depends upon the timing of the next minor apocalypse, but I do believe you've survived rather longer than the average. And really death isn't at all fun even when you're quite certain you'll be returning from it.

They're not quite traditional chocolates, as it were. See that you don't consume any yourself.

I know that almost everyone died during the zombie attack, and I escaped that and the gassing by hiding in the basement.

There, see what a clever girl you are? That's why none of your insides are on my shelves now, you know.

Yuugis aren't half so clever, I'm afraid, as a quick perusal of my organ labels will reveal.

What's weird is that Yuugi -- ah, Wuffles? -- was with me in the basement for a while during that, but then left to go find... someone. I think he might have been looking for his cat.

[She smiles] Probably helps that I'm the only me here.

But what's wrong with those chocolates? Are they just for Duel Monsters or something?
