They're pretty simple if you think about it. They're a soul that needs to redeem itself before going to heaven, or reincarnate, or something. Anyway, it spends it's time as a prinny until it can move on. The outside is just like, a sewn up doll, the inside is a soul! I'm not sure why souls blow up when you throw them, but other than that they seem pretty hearty.
