Hey, just some words of advice, I'd wait until after I took precalc and calc to decide if I want to be a math major. Calc is some pretty difficult stuff, and I would definetly wait to see what it's like before I dive into being a math major. Also, consider where you might want to transfer to - i.e. at Carroll Community, you can use calculators in any math class, while here at UMD, we pretty much are never allowed to use calculators. -Rob
That is good advice. I'm definetly looking into Shippensburg and I heard their math program is pretty good, but you nailed it when you said to wait for precalc and calc. I am not immediatly putting down my major as Mathematics on any transcript but there is a good chance that it may happen. Let's just hope those two classes do well..and that Ship U will let me use calculators in their classrooms..lol.
Calculus is rough but only a small subset of what "real" math is. Take Linear algebra, and if your teacher is good you'll get a glimpse, that or google "vector space". Seriously, the more of it you do, the less the numbers actually matter.
The only other thing to consider is that a math degree only means that you'll teach math or go to grad school (where you will also teach math). No one really needs number cruchers anymore. Consider something math based, like some kind of engineering/applied physics/computer science type degree. I can tell you from experience that computer science is as much a math degree as a software engineering degree.
hey don't mock the hornline... although its frustrating to have the whole hornline there all the time...
at least we rehearse all winter... and don't play red rover while the rest of the corps is sweating the damn ass off in sun rehearsing in the middle of the season.
bite me, jerk.
:)
Side note, i'm glad yuo came to reh this weekend. Reminded me how much I love you and how much I'm gonna miss you.
