Hrm....
Lonliness is bringing an umbrella... because if it rains, you'll have no option but to be cold.
It feeds itself. It's looking in a park at people playing, and trying to join them and running into the fence... then wondering why none of them will open the gate, when you're perfectly capable of doing it yourself... and they wonder why you won't come in.
It's tears in the rain so noone can ever see you're vulnerable, because then you'll just end up lonely and hurt.
It's self inflicted pain that we can't see how to escape, because we surround ourselves with friends, but it's not enough and we can't figure out why. We seek perfection, someone else to fill in the holes in ourselves... and that can't work for long. They can only pour the rain in, keep it from sinking worse... you want dirt, you gotta put it there yourself.
And those who finish these things, who can fill those holes and be whole alone... are considered standoffish or frigid or cold or uncaring... because they satisfy themselves. They are loners... who get confused with the lonely loners, afraid to try again, and hurt again. Lot of lonely people out there... lot of scared ones, too.
