early to bed, thunderous fireworks at 12:01 woke me up to find I still had my little Christmas Tree beside the bed changing color, phone buzzing with text message of Happy New Year.  I went outside but heard gunshots so went back in, laid around reading Utne and fell back asleep.  Hobbes woke me at 5:36 yelling about something only cats know.
