It looks like grub is still v0.97. So this is worth a try but the whole thing must be frustrating. If this grub patch doesn't work it still doesn't prove that you don't have ahci, right?
I looked at the patch. ASM is still spooky to me, hah. But it does seem specifically written for a mac pro. I would be amazed if the addresses were the same across a wide range of hardware.
regarding adresses, one needs to verify if they are the same. i was a little into 8080 ASM long time ago in school. long time ago ;) well if i get the time, i'll check that out.
say, are the linux/ubuntuusers/ubuntulinux communities of LJ dead? i posted something, and now i'm blocked cause the posts are in queue of those.
I'm not sure if i'll stay with LJ, everything seems a little dead in here.
Yeah, there is very little english activity. The one good thing is LJ stuff usually ranks high on search engines though.
Maybe you could become a new maintainer for a linux community. Or even easier, do you know of a good linux rss feed? We can create a community feed and we can all comment on the news.
i have never used rss feeds before. i'm still oldfashioned ^^ (forums and blogs). ifi you want to do the work, i'll help.
for ubuntu, there is a good site, ubuntuusers.de, but it's all in german. german is no problem for me, but i still prefer english sometimes.
well, if you know a good way to communicate with others, i'm open ears ;) i guess a new community here will not live long, got a feeling that there are not much linux 'freaks' at LJ ;)
