Whoa. For a second I thought that was you in that movie poster. You're so cool I didn't even worry if you were referring to Baz Luhrmann's version (bastardization).
Memory is fun. The key is to torment your opponent by hiding matching pieces in your sleeve.
Thank you kindly for mistaking Hussey for me...the "modern" version didn't even occur to me. I took one look at who they cast as Romeo and Juliet then never thought about it again.
I don't necessarily recommend Shreve (old habits die hard...). Her books are like that late-night made-for-cable movie you watch in your fits of insomnia at 3:00am, but then you catch one scene that is so miraculously insightful that you feel redeemed of your two lost hours. _Resistance_ is such one.
Hussey? No...she's more delicately drawn than I am.
I'm warning you--Shreve skims on the surface of potential greatness, and never really quite gets there.
Just found out, though, that Lions Gate had created a film out of her book _Weight of Water_ (which I read this weekend), starring Sean Penn AND Elizabeth Hurley, of all people. It apparently went straight to video.

Yeah, your LJ pic's the only thing I have to go off of -- do you really look like Hussey (great name for a gal!)?

mmm-hmmm. . . you don't have to call it insomnia, gugyon. We know why you're watching cable movies at 3:00am.
It's okay -- lots of people tune into Cinemax around that time. Ain't no shame! =P
On the other hand -- will check out Shreve's work immediately after work ends.
