I am going to Midsummer Night's Swing at the Lincoln Center tonight. After seeing that they're charging $5.50 a ticket to order them online, I went to the box office during my lunch break yesterday and checked out the setup. Public humiliation is getting more and more fun as I age...

The trick, as I hear it, is that as you get older, you become free of the embarrassments that encumbered your youth. :)

but do we become free of the embarrassment because we mature and wisen up, or simply that we grow more thick-skinned and oblivious with age? I'm afraid that too often the case is the latter (but oooobviously, not for me, hah).

I think it's a little of both, but i think that getting thick-skinned comes with the wisdom of realizing that there's little to feel foolish about in the grand scheme of things. I too notice i become more free, every day, of that worry.

Hahaha, yes, yes we did. By falling and stumbling all over the place. It was really, really fun. They should have events like this in LA opera house, too. Where did you live before LA?

It sounds like it was a blast. :D I've taken salsa and merengue lessons, but not swing -- there's got to be something like that out here!

I grew up in Minneapolis, then went to college near Cleveland, worked for a year in Japan, and moved out here in 2000.

wow, you moved almost as much as I have....I grew up in Korea, moved to OC (hence my so-cal ties), went to Philly for college, worked in NJ, then CO, now NY, and going to Boston in the fall for grad school.
