Return to form?

Last night my good friend Juniper and I spent time going through old journal entries in a process she likened to Dreamfasting as performed by certain characters in the Dark Crystal. It was something that was brought on by recent events certainly, but it has inspired me to try to return to this place as a means of getting back in touch with my ( Read more... )

Last night my good friend Juniper and I spent time going through old journal entries in a process she likened to Dreamfasting as performed by certain characters in the Dark Crystal. You know, I'd like to have... I don't know how you'd put it, a mythology? A set of things that have definite purpose? Or a way to make ideas more real, more there. Whether it's acting more like the creature one is, or finding a set of meaningful actions, almost like customs but without the history, I think that would be good, and it feels like there's a bit of that in what you're saying there. It doesn't matter if it's taken from or inspired by the Dark Crystal. It provides a stable point, something of color among all the undirected goings-on in the world ( ... )

A self-mythology, without an obtuse sense of self-mythification? Yes, that sounds quite alright. It's one thing to make a saint of oneself in one's own perspective, another to dare to interpret one's own perspective as a spiritual approach. But this is old terrain for us, is it not? :} I must admit that my personal approach has changed quite a bit... I've had experiences that stretch my boundaries to riding the line between the imagined and the suspected-to-be-real... it's hard to explain, but I hope that the kind of silly affection for something like the Dark Crystal can keep it within the bounds of the unpretentious... if certainly not the unmagickal :p Oh, but it has been a while ( ... )

It's more a sense, I think, of being able to be something definite. To take that sense of identity and what is right, and broaden it into something so that you show who and what you are by what you do. Be that in the "coloring" of ordinary actions, or in more elaborate things like the Dark Crystal example you gave. To have a given position, to stand there, and to give a tinge of that to all that is around you ( ... )

Yes, the coloration example leads me to believe you're on the same page as me... to people who truly listen, you can observe the colors that others manifest in the environment that surrounds them... it's not exactly an aura, it's the precipitation of their perspective, so to speak. But it takes a certain kind of attention to reach that point. It does remind me of some of your writing, however, which is quite interesting. To be able to join people at that color point does seem like a rare offering... and also it explains why people can be so confused when they feel they're onto something but don't quite understand what it is ( ... )
