Why do I lack civility for the neighbor kids? I just have general issue with them coming over and ringing our doorbell to ask my kids if they can get me to open the garage. Not do you want to come out and play, not how are you doing but just can you get your dad to open the garage ( Read more... )

what so special in the garage? and what do you say to them when they ask? "no?"

as for the life value thing, just limit the number of toys you get them OR institute a toy give away where once a month they give their old toys to the needy? i agree with you on this though i didn't live a farm life, I just lost everything i had several times over. hell, i still have a care bear i got when i was 6 that i took such good care of.

I say no usually.

They already give toys away on a regular basis, but I get most of them at the Goodwill, so it's just a rental gfee when we return them there.

Just a guess, but I bet your dad had the same thoughts of you not appreciating the value of your possessions, and so did your dad's dad and so on. I think it's just a generational thing.
