Dot points of what's happening because the hostel internet is going to shut down in five mins-

- My laptop's power pack seems to be gloriously dead. I tried charging it in Yangshuo in China, and there were a few blue sparks from the cord, then nothing. I spent three hours running around Akihabara this morning trying to find a replacement, only to ( Read more... )

The k8 calendar is nice! It's the only one of the lot I bought that can actually hang on the wall, and it comes with little planner insert pages for those weekly ones. There's cute pictures and a nice cover page, and the regular pages are made with care as well. I like it better than the NEWS one, but then I haven't obsessed over NEWS lately. I just find the coasters so-so (although I love the transparent ones).XD

bakabanri scanned the booklet picture pages: here and I just took a few snaps of the daily pages ( here and here, and the whole in size relation to the calendar here ) to give you an idea how it looks like. It's cute, and I would have bought it only for that little thing. XD My sister would still buy it only for the daily planner.
The wall calendar is decent, too - impynymph gives a nice overview here (larger images).

I hope you keep having fun! Ahh, I have travel envy, but you deserve time in the land(s) of shiny (including adventurous shady hotels for the exotic factor). ;)

Argh, the K8 one looks really good! -_- I nearly bought it too, except there were about two thousand girls clustered around the calendars when I was there, and the NEWS one was closest, so I just grabbed it and ran (and was nearly knocked over by a teensy Japanese girl in wobbly heels who was carting along the juniors calendar - which was nearly as big as her XD). I think I'll try and get back to Shibuya tonight to buy it. Because I need a little more luggage to cart around. XD

I'm having a lot of fun! I'm looking forward to getting to my university though. I'm too much of a wuss to be a decent backpacker, it seems. XD;

I have never found the bloody owl, despite staying in Ikebukuro for a combined total of probably 2 weeks. If you see it, please tell me where. XD The park isn't very exciting at all, sadly. I've only ever seen it completely deserted!

K8's calendar is very nice, too! It's a monthly one and everyone gets to look stylish and/or awesome. Vampire Maru is the best, I think! :D

Please keep us up to date with all your doings! :D Have fun! ♥

According to acchikochi, it is in the station at the east gate. I'm going to try and get back to Shibuya tonight to buy the K8 calendar (it looks so good! u_u I wish I'd bought it the first time around!) so I'll look for it then.

Funnily enough, I passed through the park this morning and er, didn't recognise it. It looks a lot bigger on TV! XD Then this arvo I looked at a map and went, "hey, wait a minute..." XD and went back to take a photo. There were a few delinquents that could have walked straight out of the drama when I was there the second time around. One of them made a face at me, so I smiled at him. So he smiled back and waved, and then giggled excitedly when I waved back. XD XD XD WORST DELINQUENT EVER.

Tomorrow morning I fly up to my university, so hopefully I find the library and internet quickly and can start spamming you all with my China stories! I have a gigantic travel diary that needs to be typed up, ha.

HINT: corimari and I spent a ridiculous of time searching for said bloody owl and found it only by luck because it's in... the train station. XD It's actually by the main east entrance, I think, and as it's a popular meeting place there are always lots of people hanging around it. If I'm wrong it's definitely by one of the major entrances - you go down the stairs and there it is.

The park is actually by the west entrance, though. XD It's on the little map right outside the west entrance. And beyond the park and about a block to the left is the Ikebukuro Police Station. It's on the map too. If, you know. You're interested in that sort of thing. >_>

BUGGER. I've been searching around the West gate, but my family haven't gone to the East gate yet! We were thinking of going to Sunshine 60 today, which would have put us out at that entrance I think, but decided not to. Curses, foiled again. XD;

I found the park! I walked throught it this morning and didn't recognise it because it was so small - it looks bigger on TV! - then looked on a map later and clued in, haha. Oops. I also found the police box on my first day, ha! My family got horribly lost on our way to our hostel, and this nice little English lady found us and tried to help, and asked at the box for directions. I was disproportionately pleased. XD

ajskld yeah, we wandered all over and found it totally by accident looking for restrooms on our way to Mandarake. XD;;;

oh man, I know! I was definitely surprised by the tiny park. surprised yet pleased overall, because, you know. West Gate Park. (/dork) The actual main station's around nearby, too; it has a giant cheerful chibi-type police officer statue outside, and we stopped to poke each other and say, "hey, Nagase was tortured in there," and giggle and generally act silly. Aww, it's so natsukashii. ♥

Welcome to the Land of the Rising Sun and Calendars with Instructions.

Please to be hanging on walls for determination of week and day. Not to be used as flotation device for choking children under five.

I'm so glad you're finally there. <3 You've worked hard for it, friend. Drink it down, good to the last drop.

As for the cherry blossoms... I think they're beautiful, too, but I've had two separate bad experiences with them that uglify them slightly. Remind me to tell you the story of the refugee woman who screamed when presented with a "Welcome to the neighbourhood" fruit basket containing a pineapple.

Ahaha, Japan really is kind of mad. The girls here are all strolling around in mini-skirts. It's like, 4 degrees outside. THEY ARE CRAZY.

You will definitely need to tell me that story some time. O_O

I want a girl with a short skirt and a long... jacket.

Pineapples will have to wait until you're back in the land of Oz. Japan has its own stresses and I don't want to ruin sakura and/or pineapples for you. Enjoy them, friend. Enjoy them like I never can. <3
