So the school year has ended, and the granddaughter did pretty well.  She won two awards in school, one for social studies and one for math, she also won first place (for her grade level) in a McDonalds essay contest, "Why my family is important to me", and got a laminated award and a free happy meal.  Then on the last day of school she came home

Plus yay for her receiving awards for writing! How excellent is that? All kids should be able to tell wonderful stories.

That's classic. Sonic Scissors! I love that. It's so great when your influence rubs off on your kids or grandkids. A couple weeks ago, Michael said to me "I hate my generation's music. I think the music for my generation, meaning 'me' is the 80's stuff you guys listen to". I suddenly had "something in my eye" and had to grab a tissue. So proud :D
