Godplayers are, indeed, the bane of a DM's existence. Unless, of course, you're playing a computer RPG. In which case, cheats on! *grins*

And I dunno about the energy-based mech winning... depends on what the projectile weapon used and the range it's at. I'm sorry, but a well-placed gauss shot at any range will make your day less kosher.
