I don't think you should be taking what your peers say too seriously. You've been in choirs before and you know how some of the girls can get. Wait until somebody's earned your respect, both for their voice and for their personality, before you start taking what they say to heart. And it's a general rule that a person will judge themselves incorrectly and I think you err on the side of waaaaay too harsh.
The best way to look at it is that you're in this choir now, whether you think you should be or not. So just go with it and do what you can. Even if it's true that girls with better voices than yours didn't make it in, maybe they put you in because you seemed like somebody with more drive to improve yourself than the others.
You do have do remember, Miss Deanna, that one of those II's came from Mrs. Blair, in a situation where basically anyone else would have gotten a I. And don't fret about the singing thing. Your singing rocks my face off! Oh my god! My face has been rocked off. I hope your opera thing goes well. I'm going to see Rigoletto tomorrow and it will make me think of you.
