ALright, so I'm going to start talking about the Dashboard show, but I don't know what it's gonna come out like. Haha.
so we get there, and we're waiting in line. it's raining...of course. and I'm shivering and wet. so we wait, and when we get in, they checked our purses. they look in my mum's and the woman's all "what's this?" and she goes "um, my camera." and the woman says "you can't take cameras or umbrellas. take them back to your car" after we waited in line. it didn't say on the ticket no umbrellas or no cameras. so she looks in mine and I have the digital camera, so I say "I have a camera as well" and she goes "um, what kind?" and I said "digital" and she goes "no, you can't bring them in here" so my mum goes "well where on the ticket does it say that? it doesn't." and she goes "the band tells us when they get here." and I was thinking "um, how about that's a bunch of..."
so my mum takes the cameras back to the car and tells me to go inside. so we go inside, and me and ash were waiting to get into the pit. they mark our tickets and give us wrist bands, and so we start our way towards the front. my sister picked a spot and I found me a spot. we knew we weren't gonig to stick together because, well, it's just not possible. during that time I got a call on my cell phone and it was my mum. she told me that she snuck the camera in. yes, hope. anyways.. so I was pretty close when the get up kids were on. they were brilliant. well while they were on Cody found me and came up to me. he said "hey" and I said "hey? wait..how'd you get in here?" and he goes "my friend Amy(?) gave us her ticket and I just asid I didn't have a wrist band and they gave me one" and I was all "oh okay." so me and him talked for a bit and watched the get up kids. I was surprised that the get up kids actually didn't play very long at all. and I was dissapointed. well, when me and Cody were talking his friend came and found him and I met his friend. we were talking then they left. then cody came and found me again. then left to go find his friends again because they were his ride. so we're just waiting around. and I'm rapidly getting closer. then, Thrice comes on. How brilliant. when they came on people started to mosh. which made everything better because I got a lot closer when they were moshing. then I was behind these two guys, my arms were on one of them, and they were talking and haha bam, it was pretty funny. me and one of them were hit by a crowdsurfer. I am now bruised between my eyes, but yeah. and well, the other guy, his glasses got knocked off. and so we're looking for this kids glasses. and well, you know, it was impossible to find them. then he started talking about how he was blind and that he only came here to see Dashboard and now he can't even see him. and then goes "hey look! it's chris carrabba. a blurry chris carrabba" and we started laughing. then he goes "If anyone finds any glasses, let me know! Thrice..play a slow song" and this chick goes "um, we found some, but they're broken in half" haha how about that. the kids glasses were broken right in half. then I was pushed a little more further 'casue they wanted to get with they're other friends behind me, and I was talking to this chick. by this time thrice had ended. well actually first, we were all talking, and this other guy got behind me, and was takling to me. and then me and her started talking. well me, the guy that was behind me, and the "glassesless" dude were talking and then we were telling each other our names. The glassesless guy's name was Mike and the guy behind me was named Travis. then I told them my name and he's like "what? Kaela?" and I said "yes" and he goes "I've always though that was a beautiful name. I like it" and i said "um, thank you" and then they were setting up the boxes Chris stands on and he's like "how tall is this guy?" and I'm like "people say 5'5" and he's all "man, he's short! I know I'm short" and I was like "yeah." and he goes "I like short people. short people are cute. especially short girls." and I said "so you think short guys are cute too?" and his friend started laughing. so the guy that was "glassesless" (Mike) kept talking about how he wouldn't be able to see, which sucked. so Travis' friend said "lets get short girl (me) and blind guy (mike) to the front" and the chick turned around and goes "did you just call me short girl?" (she was slightly shorter than me) and he goes "no, I was talking to her" *points to me* and she was all "oh okay." then everyone was just talking to each other and the "white sheets" dropped and people started cheering and this guy (tommy I think his name was) that was with the chick (ashley i think her name was, so that's what I'll call them) goes "oooooooo white sheets, everyone, let's cheer!" and ashley goes "be quiet" and started cheering and they kept talking about her, so I was like, "it's okay, we can be tonight's buddies. just ignore what they say and scream as loud as possible" and we started laughing. then tommy later was all "omg chris carrabba is soooo hot like omg!!!!" so we said "yeah he is." and so we kept joking with that and kept saying he was hot and stuff because he kept making fun of us. so then they come out and of course, everyone starts cheering. chris starts with "let's try one. old or new?" and automatic response... "old!" (which I was actually surprised with you know, just dashboard rising rapidly to fame and a lot of kids liking the newer stuff and what not). so he started with the best deceptions and went on. I was actually surprised with the set list and how they played probably as many old songs as they played new songs. dashboard was definitely enjoyable. it's funny though. it's like I never experienced it, but I did. w/e, I'm cheesy like that. chris had a huge smile on during most of the show, which I was pleased with. I liked his shoulder dance thing he did during "Hey Girl" and that got a lot of girls cheering. and his dedication of So Beautiful to Sarah Michelle Gellar was another brilliant piece. he said that he had met her the night before, and Johnny kept shaking his head saying he didn't. but chris said "I did! I really did! Johnny just doesn't believe me." then he said "so it's quite moist out here" (ew, it was. it was raining and really humid...) and the crowd started cheering and he says "oh yes, I like it being moist too..." in a sarcastic voice then goes "you hear a voice go 'it's moist out here' and then everyone goes 'whoooooooooooooooooooo'" in this really funny high voice. so people started cheering again and Tommy yells "YOU MAKE ME MOIST!!!!!!!!!"
well tommy was yelling stuff like that the whole time and being stupid like that, so naturally, that would get one someone's nerves. well dahsboard was playing one song, I can't remember which one it was, but I want to say it was Screaming Infidelities and Tommy put his hands in a heart and started waving them, and Chris was staring directly at him with this look of disgust. and when he'd stand on teh box and let people sing he would glance away, then look straight at him again. just staring straight at him like he was really really pissed. so I turn around and said to ashley "what did he do?" and she told me.
so he played us the new song, So Long, So Long, (which I was already expecting because I've seen pictuers of the other shows and there were two pianos on stage... one for Chris and one for Johnny) and before he said "this song is about living in a beach town, any of you know what that's like?" and of course a bunch of people cheered. I alost enjoyed the little piece he added to Remember to Breathe. it was quite interesting and when Chris said "fuck" Tommy started yelling "OMG HE SAID FUCK!! OMG CHRIS SAID FUCK" ahaha
now, I've got a few of cheesy stories about how I believed Carrabba looked at us, winked, smiled and what not but I'm not gooing to bother and explain myself and what happened and when he did look at us and did his thing so if you're curious, just ask ;)
also if you're curious ask about chris throwing my sister a pick...and me touching mike (yes, it was only touching...)
the boys walked off stage (without doing Hands Down or Vindicated, so we knew it wasn't over) and for about 3 mins (yes, my estimation is 3 mins) we waited, and then he came back out and goes "you didn't think we were going to leave you like that, did you?" and then they played Saints and Sailors and continued from there. Then sadly, they played Vindicated and then Hands Down. Before he played hands down, he said somethign (that I missed) then said "I hope to meet eveeryone here tonight!" (another thing to add to the list of expectations). well after the show we go out, go figure none of us bring money to buy anything, and we were waiting at the gate. then they take the ones with passes to the gate, and we had to stand behind. whhile we're standing there Cody comes up to me and started talking to me and then had to go becuase they were going to IHOP and his friends were leaving. so I said bye to him and me and ashlee were waiting there. then we see Johhny come out, and we're all "hey, look, it's johnny" and a woman working there goes "if you don't have a pass, you have to leave, now" so us waiting behind the building (there were only a few others... which was weird. but then again, there were a bunch of people at merchandise) and we were all kicked out and then my parents came and found us right then. as we're walking out we're telling our parents about what happened and what not, and my mum was like "I called you to tell you to come get the camera, you could of taken good pictures" (which was the truth, since I was close and all). and I said "you didn't say 'come get the camera' so I didn't know you wanted me to" and she said "I told you where we were. and I waited for you to come and get the camera" and I siad "oh, I didn't know that's why you called. I thought you called me just to tell me that you got it in, not that you wanted me to come get it from you. you never said 'come get the camera' so I didn't know" and she goes "oh, oh well. I hope they come out. I can't take good pictures" and at that... I cringed. I think I take decent pictures, better than most people I know, so when I heard that, and knowing I was right there, and I could of taken better...I was dissapointed. but hey! there were still pictures, right? so my mum told us they didn't get the seats they payed for, so we were ??? huh ??? and she said that if you bought seat tickets, you can sit anywhere in the seats, if you bought pit/ga tickets, you can either sit anywhere, or be in the pit. well that makes sort of sense, if the tickets didn't cost the same. oh well.
so my mum got the pictures developed today. and I heard the extremely bad news. only two came out. I wanted to puke. then, not only that, but the pictures that did come out sucked beyond belief. I didn't take pictures in August, and I didn't take pictures last night because of the stupid venue. the best one of the two still sucks, but at least I can somewhat see chris carrabba and johnny lefler. but it's still really really really lame.
so here...
Bad things about last night:
-didn't have money to buy merch
-didn't have the digital camera
-got only two pictures
-both pictures bad
-didn't get to meet the band
-the venue they played at sucked
-I was hit in the face (which I was expecting anyways)
-I got beer all over me
Good things:
+I Saw Dashboard
+I saw the Get UP Kids
+I was up close
+Dashboard played about the same amount of old and new
+I met new people (haha)
+Dashboard was brilliant
+Chris did more yelling and moving (his funny little dances)
+Chris and Mike decided on a hairstyle (haha that might be just me but they seem to change the hair a lot)
+The Get Up kids were brilliant
+I liked how the Pope brothers wore the same bandanas
and well, this list can go on and on and on. but you get the idea.
what I didn't write was about Head Automatica.
They were brilliant as well. THey only played a few songs and talked about a new album they're releasing.
right now I'm so typed out though I don't know what much to say about them.
Brilliant
so I'm pleased with my night. but sorry that it's over. I have to wait another year (hopefully nto though) to see them again. there was a ten month difference from when I saw them in August, and unfortunately there'll be another year before I get to see 'em again. hopefully they'll play the NorVa next time though. it's so much better than that loser place they played at.
any questions? talk to me. :P
I'm hoping I didn't forget anything.
I probably did. I'll talk about that later then.
