To the Editor:“Gay marriage” is an oxymoron, plain and simple. One doesn’t have to be from the religious right to be offended by the concept. You know what devalues the concept of marriage? Shows like "I Love New York", as well as "My White-trash wedding"
And that guy. The idea that there is a chance I could spend the rest of my life belonging to an institution he represents makes me not want to get married. Ever.

Yeah, I don't see how two gay people getting married is worse than Britney Spears's 55 hour marriage and subsequent annulment, or how some people get married and divorced repeatedly, or use marriage as a way to get rich or manipulate someone. It's just that people feel uncomfortable with the idea of two people of the same sex getting married, but they don't want to admit it. Additionally, heterosexual marriage has been put on a pedestal... regardless of all of the things in modern culture that have truly devalued it.
