Urgh. It started snowing this morning. I got the swamp cooler drained and covered yesterday, and turned off the water supply to the sprinklers. Today I ran down to the furnace to get the filters changed and get it running for the winter. It was full of moths (ick), so I vacuumed those out before running upstairs to reprogram the thermostat - ( Read more... )

After the long summer of having it off, we always have problems turning our pilot light on and end up calling our gas/electric company to have them come and do it instead. They do that for free out here, at least, and I don't think we've ever had to replace the thermocouple or anything else. You might try calling your utility to see if they'd do the same! :3nod:

Sounds worth trying, at least. :3 I'll give them a call if I can't get it going.

I actually got it lit just fine, but when I let go of the starter button the flame fizzles off. According to what I've read online and from calling my father, that's a thermocouple issue. :( Although it looks like I might be able to try tightening it before I give up and assume it needs replacing. I'll have to go give that a try, as it's getting awfully chilly. XD

You can have my snow. >_< I took this week off so I could get yard work done and now it's covered in snow. Can't even spray MSC in this weather, so that whole project is on hold too. Bleh.

I knew I didn't want this week, but of course my boss took the previous two weeks, so I got stuck taking my vacation this late in the season once again.

But yeah, I'm going to need some luck. XD It's about a $10-15 part and I was quoted $130 to get it replaced by a professional. Heck with that, I'm going to try it myself. =|
