“Chris-” Darren groaned, rolling over on the bed. He’d unceremoniously fell face first into one of the pillows after telling Chris he was tired and needed a place to sleep because his apartment complex was being fumigated. It was almost 3 in the early morning, and Chris was sitting up in bed, tapping away at the keys on his laptop. “Go to bed, Chris.”
“Can’t. I’m writing.” Chris paused for a moment to run a hand through Darren’s hair. “Give me time to finish this chapter and I promise I’ll go to bed.” Darren smiled and then Chris leaned down to press a kiss to Darren’s mouth.
“Promise?”
“I’ll pinky swear if I have to.” Darren smiled, rolled over, and closed his eyes. Finally, he felt Chris shift on the bed, and then he heard the familiar click of Chris shutting his laptop. The lamp by the bed turned off, and Darren felt Chris lie down beside him and wrap an arm around his waist. “I love you, Darren.”
“Love you more.”
