valid points, however I still think there should be more respect for the institution of marriage than to be able to marry and divorce at convenience. As far as getting married just because you are pregnant... well I'm not certain I agree that it's necessarily the "right" thing to do. It's true that in our society, unmarried parents are looked down upon, but I don't think that having a shotgun wedding is necessarily the right thing to do. Getting pregnant on accident is something that is actually pretty easily avoided (despite what the catholics like to tell their young), but then getting married because of it is only another mistake to add to the stack, because chances are, it's not gonna work out. I think that both parents being in a child's life IS the right thing to do even if they never got married, and may actually both end up with someone else. In fact, it would be less painful for kids to have just never had their parents being married than to have them married and go through their divorce when they are six. Trust me, I ( ... )

I absolutely do not think that the government should regulate marriage at all. Which is why I made the point that it is ridiculous to ban gay marriage quoting the "sanctity of marriage" when it already is basically non existent when you consider the nation's divorce rate. And I don't truly believe hollywood is responsible for the average being so high, but I do think that the average hollywood personality does get divorced many more times than your average citizen. I was just saying that if the government does demand to stick it's nose into marriage, its approach is retarded.

Personally I think marriage is between two people, God, and the church. I'd like to see the churches make it a rule that you can't get married if you've gotten divorced under lame pretenses.
