Started Mercy on the formal retrieve tonight. Which, there's a story behind this. Somebody shared a truly awful video of a "dog trainer" showing off the training of a young Lab that he's been working for 6 weeks. I won't share that video here, it's heartbreaking. He's using an ecollar, and doing some "retrieve" work, and the dog is so shut down

Thank you for not posting that Lab vid... I probably couldn't watch it anyway, but in this case I won't be tempted. Mercy is just SO FUN! Man you're going to have a lot of fun with that dog. :)

That video showed some of the worst training I've ever seen. So sad.

I don't understand how people justify that. I can understand using a correction sometimes, but the -R training, which is what they were using, is based on hurting the dog until it does what you want. How can you do that?!
