So I went to pay one of my credit cards online today and I was greeted with a message that I had to call Customer Service because I'd be getting a new card blah blah blah. I'm like What the fuck? I only entered my password wrong once ( Read more... )

I had the exact same issue with my Citibank card last month. Except I got an American right away lol.

Did you answer the "password" question correctly the first time?

Interesting though... still wondering what merchant it was. *shrugs* oh well.

I was curious of the merchant as well but they couldn't seem to give me any info there. And no, I didn't get the "password" right. I was just sitting there like "I have a password?!" They finally had to give me a hint because I had no idea what the were talking about lol.

I find it funny though. Obviously, as you found out, you can't make payments or anything with the card but yet they still let you use the credit card to purchase things. Seems sorta silly to me. "Someone may have your credit info...so we don't want them logging in and perhaps paying your card! However, feel free to keep making purchases if the number may be stolen..."

We hardly ever use the credit card. To the point where we couldn't even remember the last time we used it to try and figure out what merchant. It was possibly around Christmas time when we made room reservations at a hotel. I can't remember if I used that card or not. And then before that might have been in August when we went on vacation in Atlanta.

Well I feel a little better that it was just randomness that I answered the questions correctly and got an English speaker. haha

But anyway... yeah. Hadn't tried to use the card so I don't know if it would have worked or not. From what they told me, the card number had been frozen as well as the website, so I didn't think it would have let me use it if I had tried. But it does seem odd that they wouldn't let you make a payment. *shrugs* oh well.
