I think LJ just didn't think things through thoroughly enough when they added the feature and the cries of "HOW DARE YOU PRE-EMPT MY PRIVACY FOR JUMPINGON THE BAND WAGON!" and thus we users of theirs had to be their guinea pigs and point out the obvious flaws that didn't even cross their minds. Thankfully they actually LISTENED. Yay! So long and good riddance you stupid ticky boxes!
